Job Description:
Eaton's CTO Corporate Technology Office division is currently
seeking a Lead Engineer - EV Grid Integration.
While professional experience and qualifications are key for this

The Lead Engineer EV Grid Integration position will lead and
support technology development and execution for R&D projects
related to DC fast charging, Vehicle to everything (V2X), and
integration of EV with the electric grid and other DERs. The
candidate is expected to lead and contribute to the development of
smart charge management, advanced control and optimization, and
implementation and validation of the integrated energy systems.What
You'll Do
- Serve as a technical contributor and/or lead in technology
development and demonstration.
- Serve as an individual contributor and subject matter expert in
government and non-government proposal development and/or project
execution related to EV charging infrastructure and DER
integration.
- Develop innovative charge management, energy management, and
grid integration solutions.
- Support implementing state-of-the-art concepts and solutions
into quick prototypes, feasibility studies, specifications, and
eventually into larger systems and product components.
- Investigate, integrate, and validate new product designs
abiding by time-based milestones. Engage multiple business
stakeholders, cross-functional teams, National labs, Universities,
and Utility Customers.
- Innovate, invent, and challenge state-of-art design & process
by securing critical intellectual properties through patents and
publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the development of strategies for technology
roadmaps for specific applications that are linked to and
supportive of the overall ERL and business strategies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert externally and internally.
This includes leadership/active participation in external industry
and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff and consulting
internal business and engineering partners.Qualifications
- PhD degree or PhD candidate close to graduation in Electrical
Engineering or related field from an accredited institution, OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 3
years of industrial or entrepreneurial experience, OR Bachelor's
degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 5 years of
industrial or entrepreneurial experience.
- Demonstrated strong experience in EV charging infrastructure
and DER integration including one or more of the following topics:
EV charger sizing and planning analysis; smart charge management;
energy management and optimization; protection and protection
coordination; site and edge controllers; communications; and DC
distribution system.
- Must be able to relocate to Golden Colorado. Relocation
assistance will be provided for those currently living in the
USA.
- Future work visa sponsorship provided for USA candidates
only.Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using one or more of power systems simulation
software such as Simulink, CYME, PSCAD, or other electromagnetic
transient software.
- Experience with real-time simulations and hardware-in-the-loop
platforms such as OPAL-RT, RTDS, or Typhoon.
- Hands-on experience with field or lab testing of EV chargers,
PV inverters, energy storage systems, power converters and
controllers, power supplies, and electronic loads.
- Experience in EV and charger protocols and standards such as
OCPP, ISO15118, J1772, NACS, and CCS.
- Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C++, Java, and working
experience with Github and Docker is a plus.
- Experience in implementing communication protocols such as CAN,
Ethernet, UDP/IP, TCP/IP, MQTT will be a plus.Skills
- Collaborative orientation. The ability to succeed in a highly
team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in dealing
with management, employees, customers, and suppliers. Senior
management level communication and presentation skills.
- Business acumen with proven record of formulating value
proposition. Able to identify strong business alignment with the
government funding opportunity.
- Active leadership in a technical or industry event/group
