join our team as a Semen Processing and Calf Campus (Production)
Internship. This temporary full-time, hourly, non-exempt position
is at our Plain City, OH facility and reports to the Laboratory
Manager. Compensation is hourly, but no housing or transportation
will be provided. Specific duties and responsibilities of a Semen
Processing Intern include, but are not limited to:Serve as a
positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core
Values. Performing semen quality control evaluations, semen
extender preparation, general laboratory maintenance, and
administrative tasks.Assisting with research both in-house and
potentially offsite. Development and execution of an independent
research project is a possibility, but not a requirement. The
intern will rotate through multiple departments to develop a deeper
understanding of the industry and participate regularly in
professional development opportunities tailored towards interns.
Specific duties and responsibilities of a Calf Campus (production)
Intern include, but are not limited to,Serve as a positive
representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core
Values.Cleanse and maintain building, grounds, and
equipment.Operate company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and farm
equipment.Catch calves with a halter for routine testing. Perform
general livestock care, including feeding, cleaning, moving bulls
and steers, health testing, veterinary treatments, and hoof
trimming.A Semen Processing and Calf Campus (Production) Intern's
work schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Work
schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental
needs. The intern will spend the majority of their time within the
semen processing and research departments. As needed (we anticipate
around one day per week, on average), the intern will coordinate
with and report to the SSI Calf Campus to assist with that area's

on-timeREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE OF A SEMEN PROCESSING AND
CALF CAMPUS (PRODUCTION) INTERN:This position is open to all
undergraduate students studying animal/dairy science or a related
scientific field. An applicant will preferably be entering their
junior or senior year of undergraduate education, but applicants
who have graduated and are planning on continuing education in a
pertinent field (i.e. graduate or professional school) will be
considered.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A SEMEN PROCESSING AND CALF
CAMPUS (PRODUCTION) INTERN:Ability to constantly (6 - 8 hours)
stand/walk, bend/stoop, push/pull over 100 lbs.Ability to
frequently (3 - 6 hours) twist, knee lift (18" -29") 21 lbs. - 50
lbs., waist lift (30" -36") 21 lbs. - 50 lbs., chest lift (37"
-60") 21 lbs. - 50 lbs., overhead lift (> 60") 0 lbs. - 20 lbs.,
carry 21 lbs. - 50 lbs.Ability to occasionally (1 - 3 hours)
squat/kneelAbility to seldomly (0 - 1 hours) sit, climb stairs,
